"THE NFL ON CBS's" COVERAGE OF N.Y. JETS' UPSET WIN OVER PATRIOTS SUNDAY RATES AS HIGHEST FOR AFC DIVISIONAL GAME IN 16 YEARS

Sunday's AFC Divisional Playoff Game Earns Rating/Share of 26.2/44, Up 13%

  

THE NFL ON CBS's broadcast of the AFC Divisional Playoff game featuring the New York Jets' 28-21 win over the New England Patriots on Sunday, Jan. 16 (4:45-7:45 PM, ET) scored an average overnight household rating/share of 26.2/44, up +13% from an 23.1/39 for last year's AFC Divisional Playoff game between the New York Jets and San Diego (4:45-8:00 PM, ET).

 

The rating/share for the Jets-Patriots game peaked with a 31.0/47 (7:30-7:45 PM, ET). 

 

Yesterday's 26.2/44 for the Jets-Patriots game was the highest rating for the AFC Sunday Divisional game in the metered markets in 16 years (26.8/46; Miami-San Diego; NBC; 4:00-7:30 PM) on January 8, 1995.

 

In addition, yesterday's 26.2/44 was the highest-rated AFC or NFC Divisional Play-off game on any network in the metered markets in 14 years (28.5/49; Dallas-Carolina; FOX; 4:00-7:00 PM) on January 5, 1997.

 

THE NFL ON CBS's playoff average-to-date for the 2010-11 season through the Divisional round is a 21.9/40, up 7% from last season's 20.4/36.  The 21.9/40 for the 2010-11 season is the highest average for the AFC Playoffs through the Divisional round in the metered markets since a 22.8/45 (NBC) for the 1994-95 season.
