PURDY TAKES ON SINGH, ELS, GARCIA AND COUPLES IN &quot;EDS BYRON NELSON CHAMPIONSHIP&quot; ON CBS SPORTS ON MAY 13-14 <br />

The PGA TOUR features a shootout in Texas this weekend at the EDS BYRON NELSON CHAMPIONSHIP as defending champion Ted Purdy takes on 2004 champion Sergio Garcia and a field of the world's top players. The third and final rounds will be broadcast on Saturday, May 13 and Sunday, May 14 (3:00-6:00 PM, ET, both days), live on the CBS Television Network.

Purdy defends his title in a strong field that includes last week's Wachovia winner Jim Furyk, Vijay Singh, Ernie Els, Fred Couples, Nick Price, Chris DiMarco, Luke Donald, Adam Scott, Jesper Parnevik, Kenny Perry, Carlos Franco, Rory Sabbatini, Mark O'Meara, Chad Campbell, Tom Lehman, Justin Leonard, Rocco Mediate and Chris Couch, winner of the Zurich Classic two weeks ago.

CBS Sports will cover all the action from the TPC at Las Colinas and Cottonwood Valley Course in Irving, Texas, which annually embraces one of the game's legends and the tournament namesake, EDS BYRON NELSON CHAMPIONSHIP. Nelson, 94-years-old, has had his name attached to this tournament since 1968. He still greets the players on the first tee and watches from the porch behind the 18th green where many players stop after completing their round.

Jim Nantz and Lanny Wadkins, CBS Sports' golf anchor and lead analyst, respectively, provide commentary from the 18th tower. Wadkins won the 1974 Byron Nelson, his second TOUR victory in his long career. Peter Oosterhuis calls the action at the 17th hole, Gary McCord at the 16th hole and Bobby Clampett at the 15th hole. David Feherty and Peter Kostis serve as on-course reporters.

Lance Barrow is Coordinating Producer and Steve Milton is Director of CBS Sports' golf coverage. Tony Petitti is Executive Vice President and Executive Producer, CBS Sports.

("May Birdiedays" for the CBS Sports golf team): Peter Oosterhuis celebrated his birthday on May 3; and Jim Nantz celebrates his birthday on May 17. CBS Sports golf director Steve Milton's birthday is next on the tee on May 20; and Gary McCord was born on May 23.
