OFF THE TEE WITH SIR NICK FALDO

(On Bubba Watson’s and Dustin Johnson’s return to TOUR play)

These guys are anxious to get back after long layoffs. I spoke to Dustin Johnson. He’s been bored out of his mind for five or six weeks of doing nothing and then finally got back into things. I have no idea what to expect from Bubba. Whether he’s just been being a dad or if he’s still caught up in the emotion of winning the Masters?

(On Tiger’s return after THE PLAYERS)

Tiger is another one we’re not sure of. For the first time in his career he’s noticed that when he has time off he comes back rusty, like most normal guys. It must be puzzling for him after he won at Bay Hill and then to come out and have a fairly mediocre month. This week is going to be a really good test. I’m sure he could be driven more by the frustration about how he played in the past months. Tiger will come back and play well. He’s just dying to get in there. There is a countdown for the U.S. Open, which he’s got to have some game because that is a brutally tough course.

World Golf Hall of Fame member Jack Nicklaus hosts this tournament, which he won twice, on his signature designed Muirfield Village Golf Club.  The tournament is themed around people who have contributed to the game of golf and the 2012 Honoree is Tom Watson.

Lance Barrow is Coordinating Producer and Steve Milton is Director of CBS Sports’ golf coverage.  Harold Bryant is Executive Producer and Vice President, Production, CBS Sports.
