WEEK 12 OF "THE NFL ON CBS" BEGINS ON THANKSGIVING DAY WITH BEARS-LIONS; SUNDAY IS HIGHLIGHTED BY STEELERS-BRONCOS

THE NFL ON CBS, home of Super Bowl LIII, continues its 59th season on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 22 (12:30 PM, ET) and Sunday, Nov. 25 (1:00 PM, ET) as Jim Nantz, Tony Romo and Tracy Wolfson call the Chicago-Detroit game from Ford Field in Detroit, Mich. on Thursday and the Pittsburgh-Denver game from Bronco Stadium at Mile High in Denver, Colo. on Sunday in leading CBS' coverage into Week 12 of its Super Bowl season.  This season marks the 20th time CBS will broadcast the Super Bowl - the most of any network.

The day begins Thursday and Sunday with THE NFL TODAY (12:00 Noon, ET, both days) and THAT OTHER PREGAME SHOW on CBS Sports Network (8:00 AM-12:00 Noon, ET, Sunday) live from the CBS Broadcast Center in New York City.

THE NFL TODAY analysts Phil Simms and Boomer Esiason break down some of Week 12's games.  Click link for preview:

Simms on Chicago-DetroitChicago is on a roll we know that. But you know what, it’s Thanksgiving Day, a short week. This game means a lot to the team and city of Detroit. You feel it when you go there, but you have to favor the Chicago Bears. For the Lions to win, it has to be emotional and Matthew Stafford is going to have to have an outstanding day for the Lions to beat the Bears.

Simms on Pittsburgh-Denver: The Steelers are rolling. They went down Jacksonville, pulled one out and that’s a big relief. Now does that spur them on to not look ahead or take any team for granted?  We will find out. But know this, Case Keenum is tough and gritty and he’s got talent. He throws the ball well, accurately and they have guys on defense that can win the game.  I look for it to be very close and would not be shocked if the Denver Broncos won. But the Steelers have a lot of stars, so you expect them to find a way to pull it out in the end.

Esiason on New England at N.Y. JetsNew England is coming off a bye, as are the Jets, and the Patriots have to win this football game to stay on the heels of both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Kansas City Chiefs. They can’t afford to lose any more games. If they want home-field advantage through the AFC playoffs, they cannot trip up on a game like this. They have no business losing to the Jets. I expect the Jets will probably come out a lot more forceful in this game because of their getting embarrassed by the Bills. I would imagine you’re going to see a great effort. You’re going to see a lot of pressure on Tom Brady. But at the end of the day the Patriots are just too good. Brady is too good. They should win this game 30-17.

James Brown, along with analysts Boomer Esiason, Bill Cowher, Phil Simms, Nate Burleson and NFL Insider Jason La Canfora, lead THE NFL TODAY into its 51st year.

THE NFL TODAY previews Week 12 on Thursday with a special CBS SPORTS PRESENTS Thanksgiving Day feature on former Buffalo Bills first-round pick Aaron Maybin.  Many have either forgotten about him or have made a judgment about him solely on his NFL career.  But there is more to learn about the man.  This Thanksgiving feature tells the story of a published author, artist, teacher and a man looking to make change and a difference by walking the walk in his community of Baltimore.  Charlie Bloom produces.  In addition, the NFL TODAY team previews the day's games including the Chicago Bears-Detroit Lions game.

On Sunday, five teams in the AFC are 5-5: Baltimore, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Tennessee and Miami.  Who will be the team(s) that can get on roll and make the playoffs?  THE NFL TODAY team breaks down each team's chances and previews Sunday's big games including Pittsburgh at Denver and New England at the N.Y. Jets, as well as discusses all the week's issues surrounding the NFL.

Drew Kaliski is producer and Bob Matina is director of THE NFL TODAY.
