JIM NANTZ, VERNE LUNDQUIST, JAMES BROWN AND PHIL SIMMS LEAD CBS SPORTS' 17 NOMINATIONS FOR 2010 SPORTS EMMY AWARDS

CBS Sports' Coverage of Super Bowl XLIV, NCAA Basketball and Golf Garner Multiple Nods to Highlight Network's Other Nominations

  

Network's Coverage of U.S. Open Tennis and Tour de France Also Earn Nominations

  

Jim Nantz, Verne Lundquist, James Brown and Phil Simms lead the list of CBS Sports' 17 nominations for the 2010 Sports Emmy Awards to be presented on May 2 in New York City.  Nantz, who won the 2008 and 2009 Emmy Award for OUTSTANDING SPORTS PERSONALITY - Play-by-Play, once again earned a nomination in that category, along with colleague Lundquist, who also was nominated in that category.  Brown's nomination also is in the category in which he won in 2007, OUTSTANDING SPORTS PERSONALITY - Studio Host, for THE NFL TODAY and INSIDE THE NFL on Showtime, while Simms earned a nomination for OUTSTANDING SPORTS PERSONALITY - Sports Event Analyst.

 

Among the other nominations for CBS Sports include multiple nods for its coverage of Super Bowl XLIV for OUTSTANDING SHORT FEATURE (Wynton Marsalis - '43 Years'); OUTSTANDING TECHNICAL TEAM REMOTE; OUTSTANDING MUSIC COMPOSITION / DIRECTION / LYRICS (Run This Town; and Wynton Marsalis - '43 Years'); OUTSTANDING POST PRODUCED AUDIO / SOUND (Run This Town); and OUTSTANDING PRODUCTION DESIGN / ART DIRECTION (Run This Town).  THE NFL ON CBS also earned a second nomination in the category of OUTSTANDING SHORT FEATURE (Honoring Flight 93).

 

CBS Sports also gained multiple nominations for its coverage of NCAA Basketball for OUTSTANDING PLAYOFF COVERAGE (The NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament) and OUTSTANDING EDITED SPORTS SERIES / ANTHOLOGY - NCAA ON CBS, Championships of the NCAA.  GOLF ON CBS earned two nominations for OUTSTANDING LIVE SPORTS SPECIAL (The Masters) and OUTSTANDING TECHNICAL TEAM REMOTE.

 

Rounding out CBS Sports' nominations are the George Wensel TECHNICAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD (3D at U.S. Open Tennis Championships); OUTSTANDING LIVE EVENT TURNAROUND (Tour de France) and CBS Interactive for OUTSTANDING NEW APPROACHES SPORTS EVENT COVERAGE (CBS NCAA March Madness on Demand iPhone App).
