CBS Sports Network airs a college football doubleheader on Saturday, Sept. 8, beginning with USF at Nevada (3:30 PM, ET) from Mackay Stadium in Reno, Nev. James Bates, Aaron Taylor and reporter Lauren Gardner call the action as the Wolf Pack faces a Big East foe for the first time in program history. 

       Louisiana Tech visits Houston (8:00 PM, ET) in a primetime matchup to cap off the day’s live action. Dave Ryan, analyst Ron Zook and reporter Evan Washburn handle the call from John O’Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium in Houston, Texas.

       Studio programming on Saturday begins with INSIDE COLLEGE FOOTBALL (2:30-3:30 PM, ET) hosted by Adam Zucker along with analysts Houston Nutt, Brian Jones, Randy Cross and Chris Leak. At 7:00 PM, ET, SEC TONIGHT recaps the day’s SEC action, including the first-ever SEC matchups for new league members Texas A&M and Missouri. INSIDE COLLEGE FOOTBALL returns after Louisiana Tech-Houston (11:30 PM, ET) to wrap up the day with news and highlights.

       The Network’s weekly Division II game airs tonight, Thursday, Sept. 6 (8:00 PM, ET) as Bowie State visits Benedict at Charlie W. Johnson Stadium in Columbia, S.C. Brad Johansen, Doug Chapman and Lisa Byington announce. INSIDE COLLEGE FOOTBALL brackets the live game action (7:00-8:00 PM, ET and 11:30 PM-12:00 AM, ET).

INSIDE COLLEGE FOOTBALL

(BRIAN JONES ON PENN STATE’S DEFENSE):

Penn State has got to shore up that defense. We thought that would be the strong suit. It wasn’t a week ago. In the second half, Ohio had over 300 yards total offense. That was just ridiculous. They converted 11-of-12 on third down. I think the defense is going to be piping mad and will get the job done down in Charlottesville.

(AARON TAYLOR ON FLORIDA VS. TEXAS A&M):

To me the concern for Florida is offensively. First of all, the advantage that they have in playing a game last week is nullified by the fact that they don’t know what they’re going to see in the Aggies. I don’t think you can underplay the significance of that. They went from a 3-4 to a 4-3, so you’ve got a new system both offensively and defensively. You’ve got a new quarterback back there. Basically, the Gators are going to be flying blind.

(RON ZOOK ON LSU QUARTERBACK ZACH METTERNBERGER):

It’s hard to give a quarterback a grade, particularly in the first game. I think this was the question mark that LSU had: Are they going to have a quarterback that can get them to where they want to go? He was 19-26 for 192 yards with one touchdown. And he took a shot and showed his toughness. I think the LSU football team knows now that they have a guy now who can get him where they want to get to.
