CBS SPORTS SPECTACULAR FEATURES “JIM NANTZ REMEMBERS AUGUSTA: MARK O’MEARA AT THE MASTERS” ON SUNDAY, APRIL 14

CBS Sports broadcasts a CBS SPORTS SPECTACULAR special JIM NANTZ REMEMBERS AUGUSTA: MARK O’MEARA AT THE MASTERS on Sunday, April 14 (1:00-2:00 PM, ET) on the CBS Television Network. The 1998 Masters has gone down as one of the most exciting finishes in the storied history of Augusta National. Six world class players were in the hunt on Sunday of the final round, including 58-year-old Jack Nicklaus, who was making a remarkable charge in search of his seventh Green Jacket. 1992 Masters Champion Fred Couples, 1994 PGA Champion Paul Azinger, future Masters Champion Phil Mickelson, and future major winners David Duval and Jim Furyk all were in position on that final day. But it was 41-year-old Mark O’Meara - a 14-time winner on the PGA TOUR, but never close before in a major - who would make history. Coming to the final four holes three strokes down, he birdied the 15th, 17th and 18th holes – becoming the first player since Arnold Palmer in 1960 to birdie the final two holes to win the Masters. That summer he would claim the Claret Jug as the Open Champion to complete his magical year.

To document O’Meara’s journey from a Southern California junior champion to a two-time major winner, Jim Nantz sat down with him at the site of his “second home” - Pebble Beach, where he was a five- time champion on Tour. O’Meara talks about his Hall of Fame career, his family, and his relationship with Tiger Woods. O’Meara officially said goodbye to competing at the Masters last year, but will continue to be welcomed to the Champions Dinner each April.
