Sacramento, October 30, 2008 – Kevin Walsh has been named Vice President and General Manager of KOVR-TV (CBS 13) and KMAX-TV (CW 31), the CBS-owned duopoly in Sacramento. The announcement was made today by Tom Kane, President and Chief Executive Officer, CBS Television Stations. Walsh succeeds Bruno Cohen, who was named President and General Manager of WBBM-TV, the CBS-owned station in Chicago, on October 14.
Walsh has served as Vice President and Director of Sales for CBS 13 and CW 31 since March 2007. Prior to that, he had been the General Sales Manager at KMAX-TV since August 2005.
“Kevin Walsh has done an excellent job of leading our sales team in Sacramento and we are confident that he will do an outstanding job of succeeding his mentor Bruno Cohen as General Manager and oversee the continued growth of our stations. We are very pleased and fortunate that we are able to name a successor with the institutional knowledge and experience in the marketplace that Kevin possesses.”
Walsh’s background also includes 10 years with KRON-TV in San Francisco, including four years as the station’s General Sales Manager. Prior to that, he spent four years in the sales department at KABC-TV in Los Angeles and three years as an account executive at KTLA-TV in Los Angeles.
Prior to joining KMAX in 2005, Walsh spent three years as Vice President of West Coast Sales for the Internet service provider NetZero. He also owned and operated Walsh Landmark Construction, a company that specialized in high-end residential construction.
