SHOWTIME PROMOTES JOHANNA FUENTES TO EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS

 

New York – May 30, 2017 – Showtime Networks Inc. announced today that Johanna Fuentes has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Corporate Communications, the company’s top communications post. The announcement was made by David Nevins, President and CEO, Showtime Networks Inc., and Gil Schwartz, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Communications Officer, CBS Corporation. Fuentes will report to Nevins and Schwartz.

Fuentes, who was most recently Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications, will be responsible for the strategic planning and execution of all global public and media relations initiatives enhancing the corporate and programming interests for Showtime Networks and Smithsonian Channel. She will oversee programming publicity, media and talent relations, events, photography, sports and corporate branding. As the chief press officer for SHOWTIME, Fuentes will supervise all corporate and business press outreach, as well as serving as the company’s communications liaison with parent company CBS Corporation. She will relocate to the SHOWTIME West Coast office.

Fuentes has been a key member of the SHOWTIME Corporate Communications leadership team since joining the network in 2010. She has been responsible for the planning and execution of public relations initiatives in areas including marketing, digital media, film and documentary acquisitions, consumer products, distribution and new business development, as well as the network’s stand-alone streaming service. Fuentes has also helped execute long-range communications strategies that have raised the profile of the network and its executives. Fuentes has managed the analysis and dissemination of the network's subscriber, ratings and research data to the national media, along with the network's series pick-up, casting, scheduling and development announcements. She has also led the network’s public relations trade campaigns for awards.

Additionally, Fuentes has overseen the network’s communications footprint across social media platforms, working hand-in-hand with the entertainment PR and digital marketing teams on social media efforts for the network’s original series, documentaries, specials and events. In addition, she has been the company’s writer for senior management presentations, while serving as a key advisor to the Smithsonian Channel and its communications team.

Prior to joining SHOWTIME, Fuentes served as Vice President of Communications at Bravo, overseeing the network’s public relations strategies, uniquely extending the brand beyond traditional venues into the lifestyle, fashion and business media. Fuentes managed Bravo's PR and talent relations staff nationwide, and served as a key advisor to the network's senior management team, providing counsel on programming, marketing, scheduling, and advertising and sales initiatives. Previously, Fuentes worked for six years at CBS as a Director in the entertainment communications group, where she led campaigns for CBS and UPN original series, movies, key events and specials, including the Grammy® Awards, Tony® Awards, The King of Queens, CSI: NY and seven seasons of the hit Survivor franchise. She began her career in Boston, working for EF International and Arnold Worldwide.

Fuentes has been honored as one of The Imagen Foundation’s Most Powerful and Influential Latinos in the Entertainment Industry since 2012. She has also been recognized on Multichannel News’ Forty Under Forty, and as one of the Most Influential Minorities In Cable by CableFAX: The Magazine. She also serves on the NCTA’s Public Affairs Committee. She is a graduate of Boston College, with a B.A. in Communications and a B.S. in Management and Marketing from the Wallace E. Carroll School of Management.

Fuentes will succeed Trisha Cardoso, who is leaving SHOWTIME in June to become President and Chief Giving Officer of the Chuck Lorre Family Foundation.
