SHOWTIME NETWORKS INC. HAS NAMED AMY ISRAEL AS ITS NEW SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING.

LOS ANGELES, CA – (September 23, 2011) – Showtime Networks Inc. has named Amy Israel as its new Senior Vice President, Original Programming. Israel will be responsible for the development and creative oversight of new SHOWTIME original series.The announcement was made today by Gary Levine, Showtime Networks' Executive Vice President of Original Programming, to whom she will report.
 
“As more and more film actors, writers, directors and producers want to work at SHOWTIME, it makes perfect sense to hire a creative exec from the feature world," said Levine. "Amy has done great work in the indie-film world and we are thrilled for her to bring her strong relationships with distinctive filmmakers to SHOWTIME. Amy’s taste, talent, charisma and experience make her a perfect complement to our existing senior creative staff.”
 
Israel most recently executive produced the upcoming film "In Time," written and directed by Andrew Niccol ("The Truman Show"), which stars Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried and Olivia Wilde.  Before that, she served as New Regency's Executive Vice President of Production, where she was responsible for the acquisition and development of a slate of projectsincluding "RFK" to be directed by Gary Ross ("Hunger Games"), "Mother Trucker", written and to be directed by Craig Brewer ("Footloose "), and "Mr. Romance" to be directed by Seth Gordon ("Horrible Bosses").
 
Prior to joining New Regency, Israel was the Head of the Production and Acquisitions departments of Paramount Vantage, where she oversaw the development and production of a number of award-winning films including TheCoen Brother’s "No Country For Old Men," Paul Thomas Anderson’s"There Will Be Blood," Sean Penn’s "Into The Wild" and Ed Zwick’s "Defiance." She was also instrumental in the acquisition of the Academy Award®-winning documentary "An Inconvenient Truth."
 
She also served as Co-Head of the Acquisitions and Co-Production departments at Miramax Films, where she was responsible for the acquisition and co-production of over 60 movies including such seminal films as "Life Is Beautiful," "Il Postino," "Kids," "Swingers," "Flirting with Disaster," "Sling Blade," "Clerks" and "Trainspotting," among others.
Israel is a member of the Producer’s Guild.  She is a graduate of Oberlin College, with a B.A. in Art History. She resides in Los Angeles and will be based in Showtime Networks' West Coast headquarters.
