JON WEISMAN JOINS SHOWTIME AS VICE PRESIDENT, CORPORATE PUBLIC RELATIONS

New York – January 30, 2017 – Today, Showtime Networks announced that veteran writer and editor Jon Weisman will join the company in the newly created role of Vice President, Corporate Public Relations. Weisman will be responsible for the strategic development and execution of media relations, and internal and external communications for the company, working closely with senior management. He will serve as the Communications department’s editor and speechwriter, and will help disseminate the network's programming and scheduling announcements, and subscriber and research data to the national media. He will join the company on February 6. The announcement was made today by Trisha Cardoso, Executive Vice President, Corporate Communications, and Johanna Fuentes, Senior Vice President, Corporate Public Relations, to whom he will report.

Most recently, Weisman served as Director, Digital and Print Content for the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he was responsible for creating and producing original digital content for the club’s website, as well as overseeing all of the Dodgers' publications, including Dodger Insider Magazine. He also won a Los Angeles Area Emmy® for Outstanding Sports Feature (Associate Producer, “10,000 Wins”). Before joining the team, Weisman spent seven years at Variety, where he was Senior Editor focused on film, television and awards coverage. He developed, edited and wrote news, feature stories and opinion columns on all facets of the entertainment industry, and served as a principal writer, reporter and editor covering the Emmys and Oscars®. For four years, Weisman served as Senior Writer/Editor for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, working on strategic planning sessions, speeches, writing and editing press materials and funding proposals in support of the museum's $350 million capital and endowment campaign. He also served as the Editor-in-Chief of the quarterly major donor magazine, LACMA Insider.

An accomplished author, in 2009, Weisman published the book 100 Things Dodgers Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die, a comprehensive take on the franchise's history and culture. He began his journalism career in 1986 and has written news, features, opinion and analysis for media outlets that include the Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Daily News, Pasadena Star-News, ESPN.com, NBC Sports and SI.com. He has also had more than a dozen live-action and animation television scripts produced including scripts for Young Justice, Max Steel, Starship Troopers, Men in Black and Disney’s So Weird, Hercules and 101 Dalmatians.

Weisman is a graduate of Stanford University and holds an M.A. in English from Georgetown University. He resides in Los Angeles with his wife and three children. He will based in the Showtime Networks’ West Coast office.
