ACADEMY AWARD WINNER SUSAN SARANDON RETURNS TO THE SHOWTIME HIT DRAMA RAY DONOVAN AS A SERIES REGULAR

The Series’ Sixth Season Begins Production In New York This Month

NEW YORK – April 12, 2018 – Showtime Networks announced today that Oscar® winner and five-time Emmy®-nominated actress Susan Sarandon (Thelma & Louise, Dead Man Walking) will reprise her role as powerful studio head Sam Winslow on the network’s hit drama series RAY DONOVAN. Joining multiple Emmy and Golden Globe® nominee Liev Schreiber and Jon Voight in his Golden Globe-winning role, Sarandon will be a series regular on the show’s sixth season, premiering in the fall of 2018. Beginning production this month, the series has relocated from Los Angeles to New York City, following an intensely emotional fifth season that culminated with Winslow as one of Ray’s (Schreiber) last-standing clients, after the death of a young star left his career in jeopardy.

One of Hollywood’s most acclaimed actresses, Sarandon brings her own brand of sex appeal and intelligence to every role from her fearless portrayal in Bull Durham to her Oscar-nominated performances in Thelma and Louise, Lorenzo’s Oil, The Client and Atlantic City, and her Oscar and Screen Actors Guild® Award-winning role in Dead Man Walking as Sister Helen, a nun consoling a death-row inmate. Sarandon has made a career of choosing diverse and challenging projects both in film and television, starting with her acting debut in the movie Joe, which she soon followed with the 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Sarandon’s five Oscar nominations for lead actress is a total exceeded by only eight people in history (including Bette Davis, whom Sarandon portrayed in an Emmy-nominated performance in the limited series Feud). In 2010, Sarandon received her fourth Emmy nomination for work in Barry Levinson’s You Don't Know Jack with Al Pacino, following a lead actress nomination in the film Bernard and Doris and two previous guest actress nominations in a comedy series (Friends, Malcolm in the Middle). She has also garnered nine Golden Globe and six SAG nominations.

In the season five finale, Hollywood mogul Winslow (Sarandon) agrees to help Ray on a personal matter, on the condition that Ray kill her No. 2 at the studio, Doug Landry (Michel Gill). Meanwhile, Mickey (Voight) tried to get himself out of jail by turning the tables on Ray, only for them to be left at odds once again. The cast also includes Eddie Marsan, Dash Mihok, Katherine Moennig, Pooch Hall, Kerris Dorsey, Devon Bagby and Graham Rogers. RAY DONOVAN is one of top dramas on SHOWTIME averaging nearly five million weekly viewers across platforms. A SHOWTIME production, RAY DONOVAN is executive produced by David Hollander, Mark Gordon, Bryan Zuriff and Lou Fusaro, and was created by Ann Biderman.
