301: El Gran Canon

It’s almost Easter. 137 days have passed since we’ve last seen the Gallagher’s. Jimmy has moved into the Gallagher house. Frank is missing. Debbie’s worried about him. Everything is status quo, except for the mystery Town Car parked out front. 

Fiona struggles to accept the new ‘boring’ Jimmy. She loses her job doing biohazard cleanup and looks into her options with a GED. Not many. She goes to see Meg who offers her the chance to promote her own club night. Fiona accepts and puts the family a thousand dollars in the hole.

Frank enlists the help of Mexican coyotes and drug smugglers in order to cross the border. Nando kidnaps Jimmy, making him promise to take proper care of his daughter, Estefania. Lip is sentenced to community service after stealing a laser for a robotics contest. Baby Hymie causes Jody and Sheila extreme exhaustion. Kev and Veronica attempt to boost their web traffic by creating ‘master and slave’ porn.

 

302: The American Dream

 Fiona wakes in a panic. She can’t believe she gave Meg a thousand dollars. She has no idea how to run a club night. Plus, the property tax is due. Lip’s PISSED.

Frank stumbles home drunk looking for a bed. Nobody wants Frank back, except Debbie. Debbie tends to Frank and helps Sheila with fussy Hymie. Unfortunately for Sheila and Jody, Frank may be the only one that can keep him quiet.

Lip begins his community service where he meets Casper and the kids from City Youth, a group of North Side do-gooders helping to clean up the South Side. Lip comes up with a scam to put these kids to work for his own financial benefit. Despite all her hard work, Fiona fails to make any money off the club, leaving Lip to use his newfound yuppie friends to make some money back.

Kev’s wife Cheryl returns with her son Kyle. Frank calls child services on his own family.

303: May I Trim Your Hedges?

Frank is supposed to take baby Hymie for his check-up, but when he learns that dying kids can get Bulls tickets from The Wishing Lane Foundation he tells Carl he has cancer.

Fiona seeks a cashier job at the grocery store. The new manager expects a blowjob in return. Fiona enlists V’s help to blackmail him.

Debbie witnesses a guy jerking off on the train, prompting the family to hunt down other sex offenders in their neighborhood. They learn a pedophile lives down the street and the boys rally to get rid of him. When ‘he’ turns out to be a ‘she’, Lip’s interested for a very different reason.

Veronica’s spent the night on the Gallagher couch. She hates the connection Kev shares with his wife and she’s stung by the news that Kyle may be Kev’s son. Jimmy and Este attempt to fake out the INS. Mickey beats up Ned. Mandy teaches Debbie how to take down a perv. And Carl is offered the trip of his short lifetime to cancer camp.

304: The Helpful Gallaghers

Carl says his goodbyes as he heads off to cancer camp, but he isn't sold on the camp's activities. No rifle range, no water skiing, no horseback riding…no fun! Always resourceful, Carl manages to find new friends and make the best of a sad situation.

With Frank on babysitting duty, Sheila wants to introduce Jody to ‘toy time’. As a favor to Sheila (and to save his own ass), Frank agrees to be a reluctant Jody’s sex coach. 

After realizing Bobby the grocery store manager uses his entire staff for his personal pleasure, Fiona attempts to unite her coworkers against their boss.

Lip and Mandy rescue Mandy’s half-sister, Molly, from foster care. Debbie practices holding her breath so that she can protect herself from the savage city-pool girls. Kev and V are trying to have a baby. Jimmy learns his parents are getting divorced and his dad is a little bit gay.

SHAMELESS SEASON 3 BIOS

 

William H Macy – “Frank”

 

William H. Macy, an Oscar and Golden Globe nominee and Emmy and SAG Award winner, is one of the most distinguished talents of his generation. Macy currently stars in the Showtime series “Shameless,” which premiered on January 9, 2011. He is currently in production on the third season of the series, which will return in January 2013.

 

Macy will next be seen in the film “The Sessions,” the story of a 36-year-old man (John Hawkes) with an iron lung who decides he no longer wishes to be a virgin. With the help of his priest (Macy), he contacts a professional sex surrogate (Helen Hunt) to help him. Distributed by Fox Searchlight, the film premiered at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival and will be released on October 19, 2012.

He was last seen in The Weinstein Company’s “Dirty Girl,” which was released on October 7, 2011. The cast includes Juno Temple, Milla Jovovich and Mary Steenburgen. He was also seen in the Lionsgate film “Lincoln Lawyer” based on the novel by Michael Connelly and starring Matthew McConaughey and Marisa Tomei.

 

In 2007, Macy appeared in the global blockbuster “Wild Hogs” opposite John Travolta, Martin Lawrence and Tim Allen.  In 2006 Macy appeared in the independent feature “Bobby,” based on fictionalized events leading up to the assassination of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy in 1968. In 2005 he starred in the independent film “Edmund,” an adaptation of the David Mamet play and “Thank you for Smoking” opposite Aaron Eckhart.  The same year Macy appeared in the marine-based action adventure "Sahara," which also starred Matthew McConaughey and Penelope Cruz. In 2004 he appeared in "Cellular" starring opposite Kim Basinger.

 

Macy received critical acclaim for his role in the romantic drama "The Cooler." The supporting cast included Alec Baldwin, Maria Bello, Shawn Hatosy, and Ron Livingston.  Macy was also seen stealing scenes in the critically-acclaimed feature, "Seabiscuit," the American epic of triumph and perseverance set during the Great Depression. Macy was nominated for a Golden Globe for his role as Tick Tock McLaughlin and the film was nominated for Best Picture.

Macy may be best known for his portrayal of Jerry Lundergaard in "Fargo," for which he received an Oscar Nomination and won an Independent Spirit Award as Best Supporting Actor.

On the small screen, Macy received a 2007 Emmy nomination for his role in “Umney’s Last Case,” 2005 Emmy, Golden Globe, SAG Award, Writers Guild Award nominations for “The Wool Cap,” 2004 Emmy nomination for his performance in “Stealing Sinatra,” 2000 Emmy nomination  for his guest role on “Sports night,” 2000 Emmy nomination for “A Slight Case of Murder,” and a 1997 Emmy nomination for his guest role on “ER.” Additionally, in 2002, Macy received critical acclaim for his role as Bill Porter in “Door to Door” which he also co-wrote. The film was nominated for 12 Emmys and won 6 including Outstanding Made for Television Movie. Macy won the Outstanding Lead Actor category and Outstanding Writing for a Television Movie category with Steven Schachter.

His movie of the week credits include "Reversible Errors," "A Murderous Affair," "Heart of Justice," "Standoff at Marion," and the miniseries' "Andersonville," "The Murder of Mary Phagan" and "The Awakening Land."  In addition to the politically charged BBC telefilm "The Writing on the Wall," Macy also appeared in two Mamet vehicles, "The Water Engine" and Showtime's "Texan."  Also with Steven Schachter, Macy has written several television scripts, including an episode of "Thirtysomething," the HBO movie "Above Suspicion" and the USA Networks movie "The Con" starring Macy and Rebecca DeMornay.  He also was seen in a regular guest role in the Showtime original series "Out of Order," also starring Eric Stoltz and Felicity Huffman.

In 1972 Macy co-founded the St. Nicholas Theater along with David Mamet, and Steven Schachter in Chicago. Macy originated roles for several of Mamet's classic original productions, among them, Bobby in American Buffalo, and Lang in The Water Engine, soon establishing his feature film presence with writer/director Mamet.  He continued with Mamet as a Mafioso driver in "Things Change," a Marine in "House of Games" and an FBI agent in "Wag the Dog."   Moving to New York in 1980, he continued to build his reputation in the theater as an originator of new roles, in such off-Broadway productions as Baby With the Bathwater, The Dining Room (later filmed for PBS - "Great Performances") Life During Wartime, Mr. Gogol and Mr. Preen, Bodies, Rest and Motion, and Mamet's Prarie du Chen, Oh Hell, and Oleanna.  His stage credits, approaching fifty during his ten years in New York, also include the Broadway production of Our Town, Tony Award winner for Best Ensemble.  Macy was also seen on the London stage in the spring of 2000, where he co-starred in the revival of David Mamet's American Buffalo at the Donmar Warehouse.  Following the run in London, the play moved to the Atlantic Theater Company in New York for a record breaking run.

Macy is married to actress Felicity Huffman.  They reside in Los Angeles with their two daughters. 

 

EMMY ROSSUM – “Fiona”

Actress/Singer Emmy Rossum has been captivating audiences with her diverse, extraordinary talents for over a decade – and she’s only 25 years old.

Rossum’s acting performance in SONGCATCHER earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination in the category of Best Debut Performance.  Four years later in 2004, her starring performance as “Christine” in THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination, as well as the National Board of Review’s Best Female Breakthrough Performance Award and the Broadcast Film Critics Association’s Best Young Actress Award in 2005.

Rossum can be seen starring in the third season of Showtime’s dark comedy series SHAMELESS, premiering January 13th.  Based on the long-running British series of the same title, SHAMELESS, from Warner Bros. TV and John Wells Productions, revolves around the Gallaghers, a working-class Chicago clan dealing with the recession. The mother is not present, and the alcoholic patriarch (William H. Macy) usually ends up passed out on the living-room floor, so their smart but unpredictable 18-year-old daughter, Fiona (Rossum), is tasked with keeping her five younger brothers and sisters on the straight and narrow.

In film, Rossum next stars in Warner Bros’ BEAUTIFUL CREATURES, based on the popular young-adult series of the same title.  The film, in which Rossum stars as “Ridley,” a dark caster with a sinister plot, will be released February 13th.  She  last starred as “Alexa” in the indie-drama DARE, starring opposite actor Zach Gilford.  The film premiered in official competition at this year's Sundance Film Festival and was released theatrically in November 2009.  Other past film credits include DRAGONBALL, POSEIDON, THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW with Jake Gyllenhaal, and the Clint Eastwood directed drama MYSTIC RIVER.  Her television credits include guest starring appearances on “Law and Order,” and “The Practice.”

In 2007, Rossum recorded her first album for Geffen records, “Inside Out,” which showcased her classically trained voice as the primary instrument.  She wrote and recorded all her own songs. She is currently working on her second album, “Sentimental Journey,” a collection of 1940s standards, which will be released in early 2013.

Rossum began her theatrical career at the age of seven when she began singing the children’s roles at the Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center. Between the ages of seven and twelve she was trained there in stagecraft and classical vocal technique and performed in five languages in 20 different operas.

Rossum is the Youth Ambassador for the international organization Youth AIDS, which works to educate young people in sixty countries on the prevention and treatment of AIDS. Rossum travels internationally raising awareness of the pandemic by speaking at schools, universities and government forums.

Rossum was born in New York City in 1986 and attended the Spence School until 1996. She earned her high school degree through Stanford University’s Education Program for Gifted Youth (EPGY) and Northwestern University’s Center for Talent Development (CTD).

 

JUSTIN CHATWIN – “Steve”

 

Justin Chatwin currently stars on the drama series “Shameless,” which will soon premiere its third season.  The series, from John Wells and Paul Abbott, is based on the long-running hit UK series and also stars William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum.

Chatwin’s film credits include FUNKYTOWN, in which he starred opposite Patrick Huard and Paul Doucet; DRAGONBALL, the film adaptation of the Japanese manga phenomenon; John Stockwell’s romantic comedy MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, also starring Susan Sarandon and Eva Amurri; THE INVISIBLE, in which he starred opposite Marcia Gay Harden; Steven Spielberg’s re-telling of the H.G. Wells classic, WAR OF THE WORLDS, in which he starred opposite Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning; the independent film THE CHUMSCRUBBER, also starring Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close, Rita Wilson and Allison Janney; and TAKING LIVES with Angelina Jolie and Ethan Hawke. 

Chatwin first garnered recognition for his starring role in the in the USA miniseries, “Traffic,” directed by Stephen Hopkins.  Based on his performance in the program, Newsweek magazine singled him out as an “Actor to Watch.”  Additional television credits include roles on “Lost” and “Weeds.”

Chatwin was born and raised on Vancouver Island (Nanaimo), British Columbia. 

 

JEREMY ALLEN WHITE – “Lip”

 Jeremy Allen White is a rising star on the big and small screens, lending a balance of edginess and relatability to each new role.  

He most notably stars opposite William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum in the highly acclaimed Showtime series SHAMELESS, which returns for Season 3 in January 2013. Jeremy, the breakout star of the show, plays ‘Lip,’ the older son in the dysfunctional Gallagher clan. SHAMELESS is currently the second highest rated show on the network.

He recently completed filming four independent films, one of them being Robinson Devor’s YOU CAN’T WIN opposite Michael Pitt. The film, a 1920’s era drama, centers on the usual friendship between an adventurer and a young prostitute.

He’ll also star in THE TIME BEING opposite Wes Bentley and Frank Langella and in Antonio Campos AFTERSCHOOL alongside Ezra Miller.

Next year, Jeremy will appear in the comedy Movie 43, out January 25th, with Elizabeth Banks, Emma Stone, Kate Winslet, and Gerard Butler.  

 

CAMERON MONAGHAN – “Ian”

 Within the last year, Cameron Monaghan has appeared in six television series including Fringe, Monk, The Mentalist, Three Rivers, Terries and The Glades.  In addition to the guest star work, Monaghan has completed filming on Safe Harbor, a television movie opposite Treat Williams and the feature film Another Harvest Moon, opposite Ernest Borgnine and Richard Schiff.  Monaghan’s theatrical debut was in The Music Man in 2003, opposite Victor Garber.  Other notable feature credits include Sony’s Click opposite Adam Sandler and Disney’s Three Investigator’s franchise.  He will next be seen in the feature film Prom, set for release in April of 2011. 

 

SHANOLA HAMPTON – “Veronica”

When not working, Fisher loves to go camping, go to the beach, and just hang out at home with a good movie and frozen yogurt. He is also an animal lover and supports the efforts of The Humane Society of the United States, as well as the youth outreach charity Visual Impact Now.

Shanola Hampton currently stars alongside Emmy Rossum, William H. Macy and Joan Cusack in Showtime’s endearing drama “Shameless.”  Shanola stars as Veronica Fischer, the helpful and loveable friend to Fiona Gallagher (Rossum).  The series will be begin airing Season Three in January 2013.

Shanola recently completed production on the independent film THEY DIE BY DAWN, starring alongside Rosario Dawson, Idris Elba and Erykah Badu.  The film is about four outlaws with a bounty on each head who set a date for a shootout – the last one standing takes the collective bounty.  Shanola also recently wrapped production on the independent feature THINGS NEVER SAID, in which she stars opposite Dorian Missick, Omari Hardwick and Michael Beach.

Hampton has previously attained a wide variety of television roles including stints on “Miami Medical,” “Eli Stone,” “Pepper Dennis,” “Related,” “Scrubs,” “Strong Medicine” and “Reba.” Film credits include The Mostly Unfabulous Life of Ethan Green, You Again and The Hanged Man.

Born in Long Island, New York and raised in Summerville, South Carolina, Hampton is one of four sisters.  She earned her undergraduate degree from Winthrop University before receiving her Masters Degree in Fine Arts from The University of Illinois. A fitness buff, Hampton swims and does pilates to stay in shape.

Shanola currently resides in Los Angeles, California.

 

STEVE HOWEY – “Kev”

 Born in San Antonio, Texas, Steve Howey spent his early childhood growing up on sailboats with his parents.  After his second year in college, Howey decided to pursue acting and enrolled in his father's (acting coach Bill Howey) acting class.  He is best known as ‘Van Mongtomery’ on the hit WB/CW series Reba where he starred alongside Reba McEntire.  In film, Howey will next been seen in Something Borrowed, co-starring Kate Hudson and Jon Krasinski; Conception with Julie Bowen and David Arquette; and the independent feature Losing Control.  Howey also starred in Bride Wars; Stan Helsing; DOA: Dead Or Alive; and Supercross.  On the small screen, Howey has appeared in episodes of Psych, Surviving Suburbia, ER and the NBC online series CTRL.  Howey currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife, actress Sarah Shahi, and their newborn son.

 

EMMA KENNEY – “Debbie ”

Born in Manhattan, Emma Kenney realized her passion for performing at age four.  Since then, she has appeared in numerous national commercials as well as voiceovers.  Since becoming a series regular on "Shameless", she has also guest starred on "Boardwalk Empire" and voiced a character onthe upcoming animation film "Epic."  In addition to acting Kenney also has enthusiasm for being behind the camera. Emma directed her first movie, “The New Girl in Town,” which was honored as a finalist at the 2009 New Jersey International Film Festival, making Emma the youngest filmmaker ever to receive that honor.  Due to her directorial success, New York Magazine, Fox-5 TV in New York and New Jersey Monthly magazine all featured stories on Kenney’s accomplishment.  When she is not acting or directing, she loves playing with her animals (one day, she hopes to open an animal shelter but for the time being is volunteering on weekends in one).  Kenney is now splitting her time between New Jersey and Los Angeles. 

 

 

ETHAN CUTKOSKY – “Carl ”

Ethan Cutkosky started acting at four years old in commercials and advertising campaigns.  His first film break came at age seven when he appeared in Fred Clause, opposite Vince Vaughn.  A year later, Cutkosky landed a major role in the horror film The Unborn with Gary Oldman.  Playing “Carl Gallagher” in SHAMELESS is a perfect role for him, except that he is an animal lover in real life.  He has a black cat named Bear, two anoles, a fire bellied toad and a crested gecko he calls “Colby.”  Cutkosky lives in Chicago and is a second degree black belt in Taekwondo.

 

EMMA GREENWELL – “Mandy”

Emma Greenwell was born in the United States but raised in London where she studied acting at the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts.  Shortly after graduating Emma moved to Los Angeles where she booked the role of MANDY on the critically acclaimed series SHAMELESS.  Emma also appeared on the most recent season of TRUE BLOOD.  In addition to television Emma will next be seen as the lead in an UNTITLED FEATURE FILM with Joe Egender and Brendan McCarthy.

 

She currently resides in Los Angeles.

 

 

NOEL FISHER  - “Mickey”

 Noel Fisher has become one of the entertainment industry’s most sought after and versatile performers, bringing to life memorable characters on the big and small screens over the past few years. From a scared, rookie Marine fighting aliens throughout the demolished streets of Santa Monica, to a bully on the snowy sidewalks of Chicago, and a Romanian vampire several thousand years old, Fisher has showcased his wide range of acting ability in some of the hottest projects on screen today. In 2012, Fisher can be seen with a supporting role [as “Vladimir”, a Romanian vampire] in the final chapter of the worldwide phenomenon, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PART 2.  In May 2012, Fisher was seen in the record-breaking History Channel miniseries “Hatfields & McCoys” as “Ellison ‘Cotton Top‘Mounts” opposite Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton.

Originally from Vancouver, B.C. Fisher had his very first role was in the TV movie “The Sheldon Kennedy Story” for CBC in 1999. The part landed Fisher his first GEMINI nomination, which was followed with a second nomination for his work on the hit Canadian series “Godiva’s.”  Fisher then appeared in the blockbuster Columbia feature film BATTLE: LOS ANGELES, with his portrayal of rookie Marine “Pfc. Shaun Lenihan” opposite Aaron Eckhart. He has also has appeared on CBS’ “Two and a Half Men,” “The Mentalist,” and “Medium,” as well as a recurring role on NBC’s “Law and Order: SVU,” Showtime’s “Huff,” and FOX’s “Bones.” In 2008, he went to Sundance with the independent film “RED” [Official Selection] alongside Brian Cox. 2010 was a standout year for Fisher, as he was seen in the HBO nominated miniseries “The Pacific,” the follow up to the hit miniseries “Band of Brothers.” His other television credits from the past two years include solid performances in FOX’s “Lie to Me,” FX’s “Terriers,” CBS’ “Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior” and TNT’s “Dark Blue.” Audiences may best remember Fisher from his breakout performance in the critically acclaimed FX series “The Riches,” portraying “Cal,” the conniving and clever son of Eddie Izzard and Mini Driver.

 

 

Zach McGowan – “Jody”

 Born and raised in New York City, Zach McGowan caught the acting bug at an early age.  After making his debut in the play “Wind in the Willows” in 4th grade, he got an agent and soon after made his television debut on “Sesame Street.”  

Though he continued to act in student plays throughout his childhood, he realized that sports were his first priority.  A natural athlete, he competed on the ice hockey, football, and lacrosse teams.  At Carlton College he played on both the ice hockey and lacrosse teams while continuing to satisfy his love of acting while performing in college productions.

Upon graduation he returned to New York City and started to work at various restaurants and picked up culinary skills that earned him a spot on Iron Chef America.  Zach continued to act in off Broadway productions and made his film debut in the Roger Korman films “Hunt for Eagle One” and “Crashing Point” which were shot on location in the Phillipines.  He continued his film work with a supporting role in “Terminator Salvation” with Christian Bale.

His acting career picked up momentum with guest spots on countless TV series (i.e.; CSI Miami, Numbers, Cold Case, etc. Zach has provided voice work for countless movie trailers (from Angels & Demons to the original Sherlock Holmes) to voicing ‘Whiplash’ in the Iron Man video game. 

LAURA SLADE WIGGINS -  “Karen” 

Born in Athens, Georgia, Laura Slade Wiggins discovered her passion for the arts at age eight and began performing in her community’s theater productions.  Since her television debut in USA Network’s TV movie Not Like Everyone Else, she has appeared in episodes of CSI; Eleventh Hour and starred as the lead in the critically acclaimed Lifetime television movie, Girl Positive, co-starring Andrea Bowen (“Desperate Housewives”) and Jennie Garth (“90210”).  At 16, she began focusing on film acting and upon graduating high school, moved to the west coast to attend college and continue her acting career.  In her free time, she enjoys creative writing, singing and playing the acoustic & bass guitar in the band “Dawn Soir.”  She currently resides in Los Angeles.

 

JOAN CUSACK – “SHEILA”

An award-winning Chicago-based actress, Joan Cusack has twice been nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her roles in Working Girl and In & Out. She is a three-time winner of the American Comedy Award as Funniest Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture and has appeared in numerous films, including Sixteen Candles, Say Anything…, Class, High Fidelity, Cradle Will Rock and Grosse Pointe Blank. Some of her other feature film credits include Broadcast News, Men Don’t Leave, My Blue Heaven, Friends With Money and, most recently, she reprised her role as the voice of Jessie in Toy Story 3. Cusack also was a cast member of Saturday Night Live.
