SINGLE MOTHER IS LIVING FEARLESSLY

A Showtime Original Comedy Series

SMILF

Season 2

Premiere Date - JAN 20

Golden Globe® nominated Frankie Shaw writes, produces, directs, and stars in the sophomore season of the SHOWTIME® Golden Globe nominated series, SMILF. Bridgette Bird (Shaw) is a working-class single mom in Boston’s Southie neighborhood, struggling to provide a loving and nurturing life for her son, Larry, as she keeps her head above the chaos and tries to maintain boundaries with her mother Tutu (Emmy® winner Rosie O’Donnell) and her son’s father, Rafi (Miguel Gomez).

Season two finds Bridgette continuing the search for her father in the wake of season one’s revelations, only to find herself in the midst of another, unexpected family crisis when Tutu is forced to face a new phase in her personal life. As Bridgette confronts personal and professional upheaval, working as the tutor for the children of Ally (guest star Connie Britton), who continues to have unreal expectations, she struggles with confronting her dark side and faces the growing loss of her faith. Bridgette also finds her relationship with Rafi tested as his relationship with Nelson (Samara Weaving) intensifies, threatening his sobriety. Eliza (Raven Goodwin) pursues a new path to seek her medical degree, one bringing her back to old surroundings and old rules. Meanwhile, Bridgette explores beyond her Southie roots, facing new challenges and new settings.

Receiving two Golden Globe nominations in its first season, the new season of SMILF features guest stars including Academy Award® nominee Melanie Griffith as Nelson’s free-spirited mother Enid; Tony Award® nominated Sherie Rene Scott as Bridgette’s aunt and Tutu’s sister, Jackie; Claudia O’Doherty (Love, Trainwreck) as Nelson’s sister, Winnie; Ari Graynor (I’M DYING UP HERE) and Stormy Daniels.

This season’s directors include Shaw, Cate Shortland and Kerry Washington.

Created by Frankie Shaw, SMILF is produced by ABC Signature Studios in association by Groundswell Films. SMILF is executive produced by Shaw, Lee Eisenberg, Scott King and Michael London. It’s also produced by Zach Strauss and Allyce Ozarski.
