CBS POSTS BEST WEEKLY RATINGS PERFORMANCE IN MORE THAN A YEAR

Network Up Over Last Year in All Key Measures

"The 54th Annual GRAMMY® Awards" Posts its Largest Audience Since 1984 and Second Largest Ever

"NCIS," "Person of Interest," "The Mentalist" and "The Big Bang Theory" All Deliver Season High Ratings

 

             CBS swept the week in viewers, adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and adults 18-34 with its best performances in these measures since the week ending Jan. 23, 2011, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Feb. 12, Week 21 of the 2011-2012 television season.

            CBS's win was paced by THE 54TH ANNUAL GRAMMY® AWARDS, which delivered 39.9 million viewers, the largest audience since 1984 and the second-largest ever for the awards broadcast and season-high ratings for NCIS, PERSON OF INTEREST, THE MENTALIST and THE BIG BANG THEORY.

            For the week in viewers:  CBS (15.36m), FOX (6.97m), ABC (6.52m) and NBC (6.39m).  Season-to-date: CBS (12.19m), FOX (9.02m), ABC (8.28m) and NBC (8.04m).

For the week in key demographics, CBS was first in adults 25-54 (5.3/13), adults 18-49 (4.2/11) and adults 18-34 (2.9/09).  CBS posted its best deliveries in the measures since the week ending Jan. 23, 2011.  Compared to the same week last year, CBS was up +16% in households, +17% in viewers, +23% in adults 25-54, +24% in adults 18-49 and +12% in adults 18-34. 

Season-to-date, CBS is first in adults 25-54 (4.1/10) and second adults 18-49 (3.2/09, -0.1 behind FOX).  Season-to-date, CBS is up +4% in households, +1% in viewers, +2% in adults 25-54 and +7% in adults 18-49 compared to last year. 

            For the week in households:  CBS (9.2/15), ABC (4.1/07), FOX (4.1/06) and NBC (4.0/06).  Season-to-date:  CBS (7.6/12), ABC and FOX (5.3/09, each) and NBC (4.9/08).

CBS Weekly Highlights

 

NCIS was first in households (12.8/20), viewers (20.98m), adults 25-54 (6.1/14) and adults 18-49 (4.2/11) with their 200th episode.  NCIS posted season highs in households, viewers and adults 25-54, matched the season's second-best adults 18-49 ratings. 

NCIS: LOS ANGELES was first in households (10.0/15), viewers (16.27m), adults 25-54 (4.6/10) and adults 18-49 (3.1/08). 

UNFORGETTABLEwas first in households (7.7/13), viewers (11.86m), adults 25-54 (3.4/08) and second in adults 18-49 (2.2/06, -0.1 behind ABC).  Compared to the last first-run episode (on Jan. 10, 2012), UNFORGETTABLE was up +7% in households (from 7.2/12), +13% in adults 25-54 (from 3.0/07), even in adults 18-49 and added +610,000 viewers (from 11.25m, +5%). 

CRIMINAL MINDS was first in households (8.3/13), viewers (13.31m), second in both adults 25-54 (4.4/10) and adults 18-49 (3.3/09).

CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION was first in households (6.9/11), viewers (10.88m), adults 25-54 (3.4/08) and tied for first in adults 18-49 (2.5/07, with ABC). 

THE BIG BANG THEORY (8:00-8:31 PM) was first in adults 25-54 (7.1/18), adults 18-49 (5.6/16) and adults 18-34 (4.2/14), second in households (9.7/16) and viewers (16.21m).  THE BIG BANG THEORY posted Thursday-best adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 ratings, matched Thursday-best adults 25-54 ratings, posted second-largest Thursday audience to date.

ROB (8:31-9:00 PM) was second in households (6.4/10), viewers (10.74m), adults 25-54 (4.3/10) and adults 18-49 (3.3/09). 

PERSON OF INTEREST was first in households (9.1/14), viewers (15.14m), second in both adults 25-54 (4.7/11, -0.1 behind ABC) and adults 18-49 (3.3/09).  PERSON OF INTEREST posted its largest audience to date, matched series highs in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49. 

THE MENTALISTwas first in households (9.1/15), viewers (14.68m), adults 25-54 (4.3/10) and adults 18-49 (3.0/08).  THE MENTALIST posted season highs in households, viewers and adults 25-54, matched the season's best adults 18-49 ratings.

A GIFTED MAN was first in households (5.8/10), viewers (8.78m), second in adults 25-54 (1.9/05).  Compared to last week, A GIFTED MAN was up +5% in households (from 5.5/10), evening adults 18-49 (1.3/04) and added +370,000 viewers (from 8.41m, +4%).   

CSI: NY was first in households (6.8/11), viewers (10.44m), adults 25-54 (2.4/06) and adults 18-49 (1.7/05).  Compared to last week, CSI: NY was up +3% in households (from 6.6/11), +4% in adults 25-54 (from 2.3/06), +6% in adults 18-49 (from 1.6/05) and added +190,000 viewers (from 10.25m, +2%).    

BLUE BLOODS was first in households (7.6/13), viewers (11.82m), adults 25-54 (2.6/07) and adults 18-49 (1.8/05).  Compared to last week, BLUE BLOODSwas up +6% in both households (from 7.2/13) and adults 18-49 (from 1.7/05), +4% in adults 25-54 (from 2.5/07) and added +380,000 viewers (from 11.44m, +3%). 

-- On Sunday, CBS was first in households (19.0/29), viewers (34.55m), adults 25-54 (13.4/29), adults 18-49 (11.6/28) and adults 18-34 (9.7/26).  CBS posted its best Sunday deliveries in these measures since Jan. 23, 2011 (AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME "New York Jets at Pittsburgh Steelers"/HAWAII FIVE-0 SUNDAYSPECIAL).  Compared to the same night last year, CBS was up +43% in households, +49% in adults 25-54, +40% in adults 18-49 and +28% in adults 18-34.

THE 54TH ANNUAL GRAMMY® AWARDS(S)(8:00-11:33PM)posted a 21.7/33 with 39.91m viewers, 16.0/34 in adults 25-54, 14.1/33 in adults 18-49 and 12.1/32 in adults 18-34.  CBS was first in these measures from 8:00-11:00 PM. 

-- Compared to last year's event (on Feb. 13), CBS was up +47% in households (from 14.8/25), +48% in adults 25-54 (from 10.8/26), +41% in adults 18-49 (from 10.0/27), +27% in adults 18-34 (from 9.5/28) and added +13.24m viewers (from 26.67m, +50%).  THE 54TH ANNUALGRAMMY® AWARDSposted its best deliveries in households and viewers since the advent of people meters, best adults 25-54 delivery since 1988, best adults 18-49 delivery since 1993 and best adults 18-34 performance since 2001.  An estimated 82.6 million viewers tuned in to all or part of THE 54TH ANNUAL GRAMMY® AWARDS, an all-time high for a live Grammy broadcast.
