CBS WINS PREMIERE WEEK FOR THE SIXTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

CBS Is the Only Network Up Versus A Year Ago in Viewers, Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54

Four New CBS Programs Rank Among the Week's Top 15 Broadcasts –
“NCIS: New Orleans,” #6; “CBS/NFL Network Thursday Night Football,” #7;
“Scorpion,” #9 and “Madam Secretary,” #14

Network Has the Most-Watched Comedy (“The Big Bang Theory”), Drama (“NCIS”) and New Program (“NCIS: New Orleans”)

CBS Projected to Gain an Additional +2.5 Million Viewers For the Week and Climb a Full Rating Point in Adults 18-49 and Adult 25-54 with Live +7-Day Viewing

        CBS won premiere week in viewers for the sixth consecutive year with the largest weekly premiere week audience since 2011, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the first week of the 2014-2015 season ending Sept. 28.

CBS is the only network to post year-to-year growth in viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.  The Network was up +5% in viewers (10.86m from 10.38m), +9% in adults 18-49 (2.4/08 from 2.2/07) and +7% in adults 25-54 (3.2/09 from 3.0/08) from premiere week last year.

CBS is projected to gain an additional +2.5 million viewers for the week and climb a full rating point in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 with Live +7-Day Viewing.

Four new CBS programs ranked among the week's top 15 broadcast: #6 NCIS: NEW ORLEANS; #7 CBS/NFL NETWORK THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL; #9 SCORPION and #14 MADAM SECRETARY.

THE BIG BANG THEORY

  •  THE BIG BANG THEORY (P) (8:00-8:31 PM) was first in viewers (18.03m), adults 25-54 (7.1/19) and adults 18-49 (5.4/17.  CBS posted its best delivery in this time period since May 16, 2005 in these measures (the clip show before the “Everybody Loves Raymond” finale).  This is the best delivery in in the time period for a regularly scheduled program since Jan. 20, 1997 in viewers (“Cosby”), Jan. 7, 2002 in adults 25-54 (“The King of Queens”) and Feb. 4, 2002 in adults 18-49 (“The King of Queens”).

 

  •  THE BIG BANG THEORY SPECIAL (S) (8:31-9:00 PM) was first in viewers (18.24m), adults 25-54 (7.1/18) and  adults 18-49 (5.4/15) – the night's top program in viewers, tied with THE BIG BANG THEORY at 8:00 PM as the top program in adults 25-54 and adults 18-49. 

 

SCORPION

  •  SCORPION (P) was first in viewers (13.83m) and second behind “The Voice” in both adults 25-54 (4.5/11) and adults 18-49 (3.2/09).  SCORPION posted the time period's best non-sports delivery in viewers since Dec. 5, 2011 (TWO AND A HALF MEN/MIKE & MOLLY).  Compared to the time period delivery on premiere Monday last year (2 BROKE GIRLS/MOM), SCORPION was up +32% in adults 25-54 (from 3.4/08), +19% in adults 18-49 (from 2.7/07) and added +5.40m viewers (from 8.43m, +64%). 

 

NCIS

  •  NCIS (P) was first in viewers (18.23m) and second in both adults 25-54 (4.3/12) and adults 18-49 (2.9/10).  NCIS was the night's #1 program in viewers.

 

NCIS: NEW ORLEANS

  •  NCIS: NEW ORLEANS (P) was first viewers (17.23m) and second in both adults 25-54 (3.8/09) and adults 18-49 (2.5/09).  NCIS: NEW ORLEANS retained 95% of its NCIS lead-in in viewers, 88% in adults 25-54 and 86% in adults 18-49. 

 

SURVIVOR

  •  SURVIVOR (P) (8:00-9:31 PM) averaged 9.75m viewers, 3.4/10 in adults 25-54 and 2.7/09 in adults 18-49.  Compared to last year's first episode on Sept. 18, SURVIVOR was up +4% in adults 18-49 (from 2.6/08) and up +20,000 viewers (from 9.73m).  Compared to the winter premiere (on Feb. 26), SURVIVOR was up +6% in adults 25-54 (from 3.2/08), +13% in adults 18-49 (from 2.4/07) and added +330,000 viewers (from 9.42m, +4%).  SURVIVOR posted its best viewers delivery for a season opening broadcast since September 2012.

 

BIG BROTHER

  •  BIG BROTHER (9:31-11:00 PM) was first in adults 25-54 (2.9/08), adults 18-49 (2.6/08) and adults 18-34 (2.0/08) and averaged 6.92m.  Compared to last year's season finale (on Sept. 18), BIG BROTHER was up +4% in adults 18-49 (from 2.5/07), +11% in adults 18-34 (from 1.8/06), even adults 25-54 and added +210,000 (from 6.71m, +3%).  BIG BROTHER 16 delivered the best finale ratings in both adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 since the summer of 2011.

 

CBS/NFL NETWORK THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

  •  CBS/NFL NETWORK THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL (8:26-11:23 PM) delivered a 10.2/17 with 16.29m viewers, 6.5/18 in adults 25-54, 6.0/19 in adults 18-49, 8.9/26 in men 25-54 and 8.4/28 in men 18-49. 

 

  •  In primetime, CBS with THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL “New York Giants at Washington  Redskins” coverage delivered 15.40m viewers, 6.1/17 in adults 25-54, 5.6/18 in adults 18-49, 8.3/25 men 25-54 and 7.7/27 in men 18-49 – easily winning the night in these measures from 8:00-11:00 PM.  This is the best premiere week Thursday delivery for CBS in viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 since 2007 (SURVIVOR/CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION/“Without a Trace”).
