Single Mother Jennifer Gutierrez and Her Children Surprised Live On-Air with Furnishings, Clothes and Appliances

LOS ANGELES - Single mother Jennifer Gutierrez and her children, Roxanne, 12, Helena, 9, and Lorenzo, 5, from Pasadena, Calif., appeared on THE TALK today as part of the show's "Heart of the Holidays" series airing Dec. 13-17 (1:00, PM, PT) on the CBS Television Network.  The second day of the series, which shares the heartwarming and emotional stories of five families struggling this holiday season, featured the Gutierrez's story, followed by Sharon Osbourne surprising the family live in studio with news of donated clothes, as well as furnishings and appliances for the family's new apartment.

Gutierrez, who was cited for a series of domestic violence episodes and substance abuse, lost her children when they were declared Dependents of the Court in February of 2008. Since then, she has fought to turn her life around and was reunited with her children in July 2009. She plans to move out of Euclid Villa, Union Station's transitional housing program, and into an affordable apartment in 2011. The single mother currently works as a sales consultant and hopes to do more by working with domestic abuse victims as her way of "giving back."

After sharing their story on THE TALK, the Gutierrez' were surprised to learn that Kmart donated clothes, toys, bedding, furniture and other household appliances for their new apartment.   In addition, it was announced that Kmart will provide furnishings and electronics, including a washer and dryer, for the common areas of Union Station. Also, families currently living at Euclid Villa will receive $500 gift cards from the store.
