As part of THE TALK hosts' ongoing conversation about the ills of education, one of the many social issues discussed this season, THE TALK will continue to explore the crisis facing our country's public schools and examine what needs to be done to change the system so that all children are given a great education, on Thursday, Jan. 27 (2:00-3:00 PM, ET; 1:00-2:00 PM, PT).
As part of today's broadcast The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation will present an endowment check on behalf of several philanthropists in the amount of $100 million, a donation announced earlier today, to Teach For America, a national corps of outstanding recent college graduates who commit two years to teach in urban and rural public schools and become leaders in the effort to expand educational opportunity.

THE TALK will dedicate a portion of today's episode to education, including interviews with Academy-Award winner Davis Guggenheim, Director of the critically acclaimed film, "Waiting for Superman;" and Michelle Rhee, leading education reformer featured in "Waiting for Superman," founder and CEO of StudentsFirst and former Chancellor of Washington, D.C., Public Schools.  In addition, Sandi Melo-Alfonso, a mother of two from East Hartford, Conn., will discuss the challenges in trying to get her daughters through the public school lottery process.

"Waiting for Superman," the documentary highlighting the problems facing our educational system and what can be done to save it, has inspired THE TALK to develop an ongoing partnership with DonorsChoose.org (http://www.donorschoose.org/thetalk) in a campaign to fund projects in classrooms across the country.

As part of the relationship, THE TALK will encourage viewers to make a donation to help classroom projects nationwide.  During today's live show, the studio audience will receive a "Waiting for Superman" DVD, and they, along with anyone who purchases the DVD, will get a $25 credit at DonorsChoose.org.  Following today's show, additional resources will be available on TheTalk.com for viewers at home to learn more about how they can take action.

THE TALK, CBS's new daily daytime talk show that examines topical events and contemporary issues through the eyes of five female hosts who are all mothers, airs weekdays (2:00-3:00 PM, ET; 1:00-2:00 PM, PT). THE TALK is hosted by Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete and Leah Remini. Brad Bessey, Gilbert, who developed the show, and John Redmann are executive producers.
